I think I finally understand what all the various pundits, journalists, and politicians from the left and right have been desperately trying to tell Millennials in the last month. They’ve been very angry about this so it was hard to digest. They’ve called us childish, morons, stupid, and dangerous.

Pretty harsh comments for misunderstanding a math problem! We may be no better at pop quizzes than Gary Johnson but there’s no reason to devolve into name calling. So let me see if I’ve got this right:

I will head to my local voting site on November 8th, 2016 and cast 1 vote for Gary Johnson.

So that’s +1 vote for Gary Johnson.

I’ve been told that voting for Gary Johnson is a vote for Trump. This is not how I understand math but let’s go with it.

So thats +1 vote for Donald Trump.

Okay, now my vote for Gary Johnson is also a vote for Clinton. This is not the math I was taught in school but we’ll keep going with it.

So that’s +1 vote for Hillary Clinton.

To summarize: +1 Johnson, +1 Trump, +1 Clinton = +3 votes

I’ve figured it out: My vote will count 3 times when I cast my ballot in November by voting for Gary Johnson! Thanks for being so patient, it was a difficult mathematical anomaly to wrap my head around!
